James Fisher ’77 and Douglas Marvin ’69 Elected to Board of Trustees

Lafayette Alumni News, September 2004 – On July 1, James R. Fisher ’77 and Douglas R. Marvin ’69 began five-year terms on the College’s Board of Trustees.

Fisher is managing member of Fisher Capital Corp., LLC, Cranbury, N.J., an affiliate of the investment firm of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. He also is a member of the board of directors of Alea Group Holdings, A.G.; Willis Group Holdings, Ltd.; and Bristol West Holdings, Inc., where he serves as chairman and CEO.

An economics and business graduate, Fisher holds an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. A former board associate, he recently completed service as vice chair of the Lafayette Leadership Council. ]

A daughter, Lauren, is a member of the class of 2007.

Marvin is a partner in the Washington, D.C., law firm of Williams and Connolly, one of the nation’s top litigation firms. He has handled major litigation in the United States, Europe, Caribbean, and Middle East.

Marvin served a special assistant, then counselor, to the Attorney General of the United States. Prior to that he served in the Office of Legal Counsel in the Department of Justice, then as counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee. In 1992 he served as counsel to the Republican National Convention.

A government and law graduate, Marvin holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School. He is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Supreme Court and of the American Law Institute.

A daughter, Jill, graduated from Lafayette in May with a major in international affairs.
