More than 140 students will be studying in New Zealand, South Africa, Guatemala, England, France, Belgium, Germany, and the Czech Republic during the winter break.
This is the 31st year in which Lafayette is offering concentrated, three-week courses during the interim session between regular semesters led by faculty well-suited to teach them because of their experience and expertise. In many courses, students meet prominent business people, cultural figures, government officials, and academics, learning directly from these experts about the subject matter they are studying. In May, students will also head to the Western United States and the United Kingdom to take similar faculty-led, concentrated courses following the final exam period.

The College also offers a faculty-led semester abroad program. Students take classes from Lafayette faculty as well as faculty of host institutions. They also take part in field trips, which are planned and led by Lafayette faculty with the help of local organizers.
In the spring semester, 34 students will study engineering and German language and culture in a Lafayette faculty-led program at Jacobs University Bremen in Germany. William Hornfeck, professor of electrical and computer engineering, and James Lennertz, associate professor of government and law, will lead the trip.
Previous faculty-led semesters have been in Athens, Greece; Brussels, Belgium; Madrid, Spain; Dijon, France; and Kumasi, Ghana.
In addition to the faculty-led programs, Lafayette has affiliations with many colleges and other organizations through which students study in many countries. In the fall, students participated in affiliated programs in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, and Spain. This spring, students are scheduled to participate in affiliated semester-long programs in some of those countries plus Chile, China, Costa Rica, Denmark, Egypt, Greece, Ireland, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Scotland, and South Africa.
