Susan King Nachtigall ’04 sees Alumni Online Community as valuable networking tool

When Susan King Nachtigall ’04 was moving from Pennsylvania to California, she was seeking networking opportunities.

“I was looking for alumni connections in hopes of finding a job,” says the economics and government graduate.

She saw information on the alumni web site about the Alumni Online Community and decided to give it a try. While she didn’t secure a job through the online community, she believes that as participation grows, it will become an even more valuable networking tool. Users can take advantage of a resume bank and an alumni directory that provides job and contact information, as well as the ability to send alumni “blind” emails.

“The more of us that register, the more likely we’ll find it helpful,” says Nachtigall, who also used the Alumni Online Community to announce her engagement. “It should become an easy way to network among fellow alumni.”

“Is College Worth the Cost?”

At Lafayette, the answer is a resounding yes. Payscale.com reports that Lafayette is third among all liberal arts schools in average starting salary (excluding military academies) and sixth in 30-year return on investment.
