Ryan Willen ’12 Receives Capital One Academic All-District II Basketball Honors

Ryan Willen ’12

Starting forward Ryan Willen ’12 (Cape Girardeau, Mo.) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District II men’s basketball team.

A neuroscience major with a 3.30 GPA, Willen is averaging 10.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Willen has 905 career points and 380 rebounds, looking to become the 37th player in Lafayette history to score 1,000 career points.

To be eligible for Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve, be at least in his sophomore year and maintain a minimum 3.30 GPA.

Willen was a Patriot League All-Rookie selection in his first season and earned All-Patriot League Second-Team honors as a sophomore when he also secured a placed on the All-Patriot League Tournament Team.

The Patriot League led all Division I conferences with four men’s basketball players named to the Capital One Academic All-District Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Willen advances to the national ballot, from which First, Second and Third Team All-America honorees will be announced on Feb. 22.
