A rising star in the beauty industry, Jenna Menard ’03 has been named to the newly created position of global colour artist for Clinique, one of the world’s leading cosmetics brands.
Menard, a noted makeup artist based in New York City, has become well-known through her work for top magazines, celebrities, and for runways in the fashion capitals of the world. In fact, this week she worked with another Lafayette alumna, Kate Young ’96, the fashion stylist who handled dress and styling for Natalie Portman on the night in February when she won the Academy Award for best actress in a leading role for her performance in Black Swan.
In her role at Clinique, Menard will play a key part in creating digital content to amplify Clinique’s color positioning. She will also help develop and star in how-to videos that provide quick, easy ways to use makeup and will work closely with the product development and marketing teams on new products, trends, and techniques.
“Jenna brings tremendous talent and insights to the brand,” said Lynne Greene, global brand president of Clinique, Origins, and Ojon, in the May 16 press release announcing Menard’s appointment. “Her eye for creating makeup looks that accentuate the natural beauty of every woman coupled with her passion to build self-confidence through makeup is inspiring to women around the world. She has a smile that lights up a room and a positive outlook on life – a quality we celebrate at Clinique.”
Menard, a psychology graduate, said she sees beauty as a path to help people feel better about themselves. She said it is a transformative process.
“I’m honored to join the Clinique family,” said Menard in the press release. “My philosophy is to make women feel beautiful without putting on too much makeup. It’s about playing up a woman’s individual beauty, helping her to look and feel beautiful.”
Introduced in 1968, Clinique was the first ever dermatologist-created, prestige cosmetic brand. All makeup and skin care products are allergy tested and 100% fragrance free.
