Field hockey student-athlete Cara Lyons ’11

Civil engineering major and field hockey player Cara Lyons '11 (right) worked with Kristen Sanford Bernhardt, assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering, on a project looking at how designing a sustainable building impacts its cost. They put together a model that calculates the total cost of ownership of a building, taking into consideration the savings and added investment from using green technology during construction and throughout the overall life of a structure.
