Lafayette presented “An Evening with Martin Amis” Feb. 26 in Colton Chapel.

Called “Britain’s greatest living English author” by some and “the current father of English letters” by others, Amis is the author of 13 novels, two collections of stories, five collections of non-fiction, and a memoir.

Amis read from and discussed his work, as well as the life of the late Christopher Hitchens, and engaged in a question-and-answer session hosted by President Daniel H. Weiss. The talk was followed by a book signing and reception in Marquis Hall.

At Lafayette, the answer is a resounding yes. Payscale.com reports that Lafayette is third among all liberal arts schools in average starting salary (excluding military academies) and sixth in 30-year return on investment.
