Carolyn Cabrey ’12 scored the game-winning goal for the U.S. women’s national indoor field hockey team in its first-ever win over Argentina last month.
The goal came in the 17th minute of a 4-3 victory. The game was the finale of a tour of Argentina from March 22-26.
“The trip to Argentina was an invaluable opportunity to play and learn from one of the best hockey countries in the world,” Cabrey said. “I am more appreciative now of the times I get to be a player, especially when I get the chance to play for the U.S. It was an awesome trip with a talented and diverse group of players.”
The squad went 3-3-1 on the week and Cabrey notched two goals, her first coming in the opener, a 6-4 win over the Argentina Under-19 team. The Americans also recorded a decisive 3-0 win over Uruguay to post at least one victory over all three teams in competition.
Lafayette’s field hockey team finished the 2012-13 season with an overall record of 17-3, its only losses to top-10 opponents in Penn State, Princeton, and Maryland. Lafayette won the Patriot League Championship for the second consecutive year and advanced to the NCAA Tournament on the only at-large bid for a Patriot League school in league history.
