Working with the senior citizens has provided me with a home away from home and has exposed me to incredible individuals. One of the most interesting things about life is learning about new cultures and experiences, and I’ve learned a lot about patience, body language, and genuine enjoyment from my friends at the center. When one of my best friends, Mr. Donald, died, it taught me that life is too short to waste and to enjoy each moment and the people you love because you never know when someone can be gone.
Fairouz Foty ’11 is the founder and coordinator of the music therapy program for attendees of the Landis Community Outreach Center’s adult daycare program, called Sharing the Caring. From Washington, D.C., she is studying opera and the cello and is a double major in music and Africana studies.
