If after visiting and researching all your college options, you have determined that Lafayette is your top preference, you may choose to apply under Early Decision. The Early Decision process at Lafayette is completed on a rolling basis. The review of ED applications submitted prior to November 1 will begin in early November, with the first round of decisions being mailed by December 1. Normally students will learn of their decision within 30 days of their applications becoming complete. It is necessary to submit first marking period grades in order to complete an ED application. Students who have filed their applications by our January 1 admissions deadline may convert their applications to Early Decision as late as February 15 by submitting an Early Decision contract with all the appropriate signatures.

Applicants admitted under the Plan must withdraw applications to other institutions. Lafayette guarantees to meet the demonstrated financial need of students admitted under the Early Decision Plan who adhere to the following criteria for consideration.

Early Decision candidates who apply for financial aid are required to file the CSS Profile with estimated information as early as October 1, but no later than two weeks after filing the admissions application, and must also file the FAFSA by February 1, 2010. Copies of 2008 tax returns, W-2 schedules, and any supplements are required for the initial determination of need. Signed copies of 2009 tax returns along with schedules and W-2s for both student and parent(s) must be submitted through the IDOC service of the College Board by March 15, 2010.

Students who apply for Early Decision should mark the appropriate box on page 1 of the Common Application form. The application deadline is January 1.
