Financial aid recipients must reapply for aid each academic year. Institutional grants constitute the primary component of need-based financial aid awards so grant recipients can expect the grant portion of their package to remain proportionate to their need. Aid consideration in subsequent years is still subject to academic progress, demonstrated need, and filing by the deadlines. Notifications to on-time renewal applicants are mailed no later than the end of June. Late filers are considered as funds become available.
Renewal applications are available on this web site at the end of each fall term. Each year’s financial aid award is based on the college costs in effect for that year as well as the review of all documents supplied by the family. Changes in a family’s financial circumstances such as siblings in college, number of household members, income fluctuations, retirement, disability, etc., may result in changes to a student’s financial aid award. Should parents reduce or discontinue financial support for reasons other than ability to contribute, Lafayette does not replace the parents’ expected contribution.
Financial aid is available for a maximum of eight semesters. Additional aid for five-year, two-degree programs is subject to available funds and limited to students who have received approval from the Academic Progress Committee to pursue dual degrees.
New applicants requesting consideration for financial aid must file by the stated deadlines, demonstrate need, and have a G.P.A. comparable to the all-college average. Awards may be limited by the availability of funds.
Study Abroad
Financial aid consideration will be based on the
approved costs for a full year of study at Lafayette.
Aid for study abroad is limited to faculty-led and approved, affiliated programs and is capped at
