As a first-year applicant, you must submit the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA ),
College Scholarship Service (CSS) Profile, tax
returns, schedules, and W-2s from the student and both
parents. A Business/Farm Supplement or a Noncustodial
Profile also is required if applicable. Your expected family
contribution to your Lafayette education is determined
using information from these forms.
Regular-Decision Applicants
• File the CSS Profile Oct. 1, 2008-Feb. 15, 2009

supplemental forms for parents and student by March

• Financial aid applicants who complete the application
requirements by the specified deadlines and are

will be notified of aid awards within two weeks of
receiving their admissions decision and no later than

received by the specified deadlines.
• Financial aid is limited to eight semesters.
• Appeals or changes in circumstances (such as
unanticipated medical expenses, changes in
employment, disability, etc.) may be submitted in
writing to the director of financial aid and must include
supporting documentation. Revisions are subject to
availability of funds, demonstrated need, and merit of
the appeal.
• The federal government requires Lafayette to verify
information provided on the FAFSA. Applicants
selected for verification will be notified and may need
to provide additional information before financial aid
can be disbursed. The financial aid office reserves
the right to request Form 4506 from families for tax/
income confirmation from the IRS and use internet resources to confirm assets if warranted during
the file review.
• Students seeking aid from Lafayette must apply
for federal and state aid by filing the FAFSA by the
specified deadlines. Federal and state aid will replace
the institutional grant portion of a student’s needbased
financial aid award.
Supplemental Forms
When a student’s parents are separated or divorced,
Lafayette requires financial information from both parents.
The custodial parent must file the Profile and FAFSA; the
noncustodial parent must file the Noncustodial Parent’s
Profile. Both must submit 2008 federal tax returns along
with schedules and W-2s through College Board IDOC
service.
Parents and students who own a business or farm
must submit the Business/Farm Supplement as well as
corporate/partnership tax returns.
Supplemental forms will be provided by the College
Board once the Profile is completed.
Early Decision
Lafayette guarantees to meet the demonstrated financial
need of students admitted under the Early Decision Plan
who adhere to the following criteria for consideration.
Early-decision candidates who apply for financial aid are
required to file the CSS Profile with estimated information as
early as Oct. 1, but no later than two weeks after filing the
admissions application, and also must file the FAFSA by Feb.
15, 2009. Copies of 2007 tax returns, W-2s, schedules, and
any supplements are required for the initial determination of
need and should be sent directly to the Office of Financial
Aid. Signed copies of 2008 tax returns along with schedules
and W-2s for both student and parent(s) must be submitted
by March 15, 2009, through College Board IDOC service
International Students
About 5 percent of each incoming class is comprised
of international students (non-U.S. citizens who are not
permanent residents). All international aid applicants must
complete an International Student Financial Aid Application
. The admissions application will not be considered complete until it is recieved. The application deadline for international students is December 15. International students whose parents work in the U.S.
also must submit a CSS Profile (www.collegeboard.com).
The College meets the full demonstrated financial need of
international students through a combination of loan, job,
and grant aid. The awarding of College aid to international
students, however, is extremely competitive, and the need
for such aid may affect the admission decision.
Transfer Students
Spring 2009 transfer applicants should submit the 2008-09
Profile, FAFSA, and 2007 federal tax returns, schedules,
and W-2s for both student and parent(s) by Oct. 1, 2008.
Fall 2009 transfer applicants should submit the
2009-10 Profile, FAFSA, and signed copies of 2008
federal tax returns for student and parent(s) by April 1,
2009. College-funded aid for transfer students is highly competitive and subject to availability of funds.
