Requirements for the minor: At least five approved courses in an interdepartmental program drawing from the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Required courses:

  • Anthropology 222: Medical Anthropology
  • Psychology 240: Health Psychology
  • Religion 283: Religion and Medicine

    Elective courses may be chosen from:

  • Government 217: Public Administration
  • Philosophy 105: Ethics
  • Psychology 235: Social Behavior
  • Psychology 337: Counseling Psychology
  • Physics 220: Medical and Biological Physics

    One elective may be a VAST course. The following are approved for the minor.

  • 206: AIDS: A Modern Pandemic
  • 208: Evaluating Medical Technologies
  • 210: Societal Issues and Implications of Genetic Engineering
  • 214: The Human Genome Project: Benefits and Costs
  • 222: Patient-Practitioner Interaction: the Role of Medical Technology
  • 225: New Drug Development: Benefits and Costs

    Other courses may be substituted with approval from the coordinator.
