Learns Creative Process by Preparing Exhibit

A double major in English and art, Greg Herchenroether ’06 learned the creative process as an EXCEL Scholar assisting Ed Kerns, Clapp Professor of Art (above), prepare for an exhibit at a gallery in Bethlehem, Pa. Herchenroether printed digital images on canvases to achieve a layered effect.

A recipient of a Trustee Scholarship, Herchenroether studied art and architecture in Spain as an inaugural participant in the Rothkopf Scholars program. He is now researching and writing an English honors thesis on films that focus on writers.

“I am studying a core group of films that deal with the character of ‘the writer’ immersed in the often
torturous writing process,” he says. His adviser, Andrew Smith, specializes in film study and is assistant professor of English and chair of American studies.

Herchenroether is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, managing editor of The Lafayette, a student assistant in the English department, and has participated in two College Theater productions.
