David A. Portlock Black Cultural Center

Located behind Farinon College Center, 101 McCartney St., the center (renovated in 1998) houses the Office of Intercultural Development and features a large gallery and full kitchen on the first floor and offices and conference area on the second floor. The center hosts many events including art exhibits, brown-bag lectures, movies, dinners, and receptions. Any group in the Lafayette community may reserve the downstairs area for meetings and special events. Computer and audiovisual equipment are available.

Art from all over the world, representing many facets of the Black Diaspora, is displayed throughout the building.

During 2001, the third-floor apartment was renovated and furnished. The center welcomes everyone; it is a place of celebration, sharing, and learning.
