Living on Campus

Around July 12-15, your son or daughter will receive a room assignment and roommate information.  Encourage your student to contact his or her roommate and start discussing how they will approach living together.  Good things to ask are:  what time they like to go to sleep, what music they like, and where they like to study.  They can also determine who will bring large items such as a television, refrigerator, or rug.

New students should arrive between 7 and 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 23, and report directly to their assigned residence hall.  Please do not plan on arriving prior to Aug. 23, as you will be unable to access the residence hall room until that day.  Volunteers will be there to assist with moving in, and residence life staff will direct you and answer questions.

After move-in and orientation, first-year students will begin classes and start becoming involved in the cultural and cocurricular activities that complement their academic program.  If any concerns arise during the year, encourage your student to contact his or her resident adviser, head resident, or a member of the professional staff.

Important housing dates for the 2007-08 year; residence halls close for fall semester on Tuesday, Dec. 18, then reopen for spring semester on Saturday, Jan. 26, and close for spring semester on Monday, May 19.

Also note that students assigned to Watson Hall and South College will need to move their belongings in December so that January interim housing may be accommodated.
