Because parents are a very important part of the Lafayette community, the College makes every effort to promote parent communication and involvement. Embarking on a college career is a big step for students and parents. We hope that you value your relationship with Lafayette and will participate in the many opportunities offered to you to become involved in the life of the College.

In the fall, parents of new students are invited to attend PARENTS ORIENTATION. While students are unpacking and beginning their orientation, parents can attend discussion groups with College personnel from Academics, Student Life, the Counseling Center, and upper-class students and parents.

FAMILY WEEKEND is a major event on campus. It is a special time for families to share in the Lafayette experience. Be sure to check the date on the College Calendar. A registration form and schedule outlining the events will be mailed to you in advance.

All parents are welcome to visit during HOMECOMING weekend. If you were unable to attend Family Weekend, Homecoming provides another opportunity to experience a festive weekend with your son or daughter.

If you plan to join us for Family Weekend or Homecoming, make your reservations early. Local hotels fill up quickly on busy weekends.

Parents are also invited and encouraged to attend ALUMNI CHAPTER functions in their local areas. These events offer opportunities to meet other parents and alumni and keep current with college life. Local chapters sponsor parent receptions at the home of an area alumnus or parent. Invitations will be sent to parents who are located in the area where the reception is being held.
