2005-06 Summary of Giving

It has been incredibly satisfying to serve as chair of the Lafayette Annual Fund since 2003-04 and report to you each winter on our ambitious goals and on the areas in which we have made significant progress.

In my message last January, I referenced our long-term goal of achieving more than $6 million in gifts to the Annual Fund. A year later, I am pleased to announce that in 2005-06 we surpassed $6 million. Thank you!  That success has given us the confidence to set our sights on $6.25 million for 2006-07.

We are also encouraged by our progress in the area of alumni participation. Although there is still a very long way to go, during 2005-06 the College received the most gifts ever from alumni, and the participation rate improved from 40% to 41%. Given the excitement associated with the Fleck Consistent Giving Society, which was officially launched at Reunion, and the Griffith Consistent Giver Match, which targets our younger alumni, I remain very optimistic that we will reach the 50% level of alumni participation by 2009-10.

If you made a gift last year, I hope we can continue to count on your support. And if you are not listed among our donors for 2005-06, I hope you will begin a new pattern of consistent giving this year.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of you for helping to make my term as chair so enjoyable. I look forward to continuing to work with you to make our college the finest institution it can be.

Remember: Every Gift matters, Every Year!
