A11. Times and dates

a11.1. Place the most immediate element first when providing times and dates (Laura Palmer left her home at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 1989). N.B.: Note that a.m. and p.m. are always lowercase.

a11.2. Do not use zeroes when referring to an even hour (3 a.m.; 6 p.m.).

a11.3. Months used by themselves in text are never abbreviated. When used with a specific date, abbreviate all months of more than five letters: John was born on Oct. 9, Paul on June 18. Accepted abbreviations: Jan., Feb., Aug., Sept., Oct., Nov., Dec.

a11.4 Alumni/ae names used with year of graduation, follow this style:
Arthur Rothkopf '55. No comma between the last name and the last two years of the graduation date. Always use the date in Alumni News and Lafayette Magazine.
