Film Highlights Jason Burrell '98 and $74 Million ‘Green' Building

As senior project manager for Bovis Lend Lease, Jason Burrell ’98 has been overseeing construction of the $74 million Macallen Building, a 140-unit condo in South Boston. For the past three-and-a-half years, Burrell has been instrumental in the development of the revolutionary “green” building. A documentary about it highlights his work. The footage, Burrell’s included, was complied into The Greening of Southie. The film asks the question, “What happens when you’re asked to build the city of tomorrow…today?” The film, an official selection for the True/False Film Festival in Columbia, Mo., and the Independent Film Festival of Boston, made its television premiere, fittingly enough, on Earth Day.

Class of 2003 Reunion Organizer Allison Ahart Looks Forward to Gathering
During her four years at Lafayette, Allison Ahart ’03 was an active member of the campus community, "When graduation was approaching, I realized that I didn’t want my involvement to end there," she says, noting that volunteering to help plan the Reunion for the Class of 2003 was “a natural progression.” "There were a lot of wonderful things during these four short years," she says. Media Focus Spotlight on Political Web Site Developed by Rick Klau ’93

Though it seems like everyone has a web site today, few, like Rick Klau ’93, can say CNN, NPR, and Wired Magazine featured theirs. Klau’s site, Superdelegates.org, reveals the names, locations, and candidate preferences of the majority of Democratic Party superdelegates. Just three weeks after launching, the media attention and public curiosity about superdelegates brought nearly 60,000 visitors to the site. The Democratic National Committee created the 800 superdelegates (composed of party officials and elected politicians) to clarify the frontrunner in the event of a tight presidential nomination race. Comprising an additional 20 percent of all delegates, these insiders ideally ensure the best candidate receives the nomination.
