EASTON, Pa.(www.lafayette.edu), April 20, 2007 — A group of students will hold an informational meeting 7 p.m. Sunday April 22 in Colton Chapel to explore the possibility and gauge the interest level of forming a new Greek organization on campus.
According to meeting organizer LaMika Robinson ’10 (Washington, D.C.), the new Greek organization would help stimulate diversity on campus. The issue was brought up at the most recent open forum with President Daniel Weiss and a significant number of students have signed on to support the idea.
“This session is going to educate students about historically-founded black fraternities and sororities, dispel misconceptions, shed light on the effects this could have on our campus, and ask the students if they have interest in joining,” says Robinson.
Robinson says a vote will also be taken to decide what specific Greek organization students would like to have on campus.Other organizers are mechanical engineering major Christian Bacon ’09 (Jacksonville, Fla.), DeAndre' Morrow ’10 (Hilton Head Island, S.C.), Chioma Iwouha ’10, (Washington, D.C.), DeWayne Thomas ’10 (Washington, D.C.), and Tiye Kinlow ’10 (Washington, D.C.) .
