International Directory of Company Histories available online
Lafayette now has access to the electronic version of the International Directory of Company Histories, which contains detailed histories of U.S. and international companies. Use the search box to find all company profiles available in electronic format. Older volumes are available in Skillman's print reference collection (Call #HD2721 .I63). (5/11/2008)

Extended exam hours includes 24-hour access for two weeks
Beginning Sunday, May 4, Skillman Library will be open on a 24-hour basis during finals (excluding Friday and Saturday nights). During the 24-hour access periods, a valid Lafayette ID will be required to enter or remain in the building after midnight. Circulation services (checking out books, reserve items, and laptops) will cease at 1:00 am. (4/29/2008)

Project MUSE adds back-issues of select journals
Back issues of the Journal of the History of Philosophy and Journal of Democracy have been added to Project MUSE, the collection of full text full-text scholarly journal articles.
Both journals are now accessbile in full-text from volume one onwards, and Project MUSE is considering adding additional historical material. (4/22/2008)

The Library now subscribes to the online edition of the new Wiley Encyclopedia of Biomedical Engineering, with its 350+ peer-reviewed articles covering biomedical
engineering, biomechanics, and biomaterials.

Oxford Art Online and Oxford Music Online subsume GroveArt, GroveMusic
GroveArt and GroveMusic are now part of two larger databases, Oxford Art Online and Oxford Music Online. The databases provide reference information on art and music, including the full text of the extensive and authoritative Grove dictionaries on music and art. They also now provide links to related resources to which the library subscribes:
ArtStor, RILM, the Dictionary of National Biography, and (coming soon) Classical Music Library.

RefWorks, the bibliography help tool, offers online training sessions
RefWorks is a tool that allows users to organize their research by capturing citations from catalogs and indexes, storing them in a personal database, and generating quick bibliographies. RefWorks is now offering online training sessions for both new and advanced users. (3/18/2008)

International Financial Statistics online
Lafayette Library users now have access to the electronic version of International Financial Statistics, which provides time series data on the financial and monetary conditions of countries around the world.

Request annex materials online
Library users can now place requests for materials from the Annex or Kirby Annex (remote storage) using a link in the Library Catalog. If your catalog search turns up an item with an annex location, simply click on the "Request from Annex" link, and we'll retrieve the item for you and send you an email when it's ready for pick-up. Lafayette users now have access to the online version of the Directory of Corporate Affiliations, also known as "Who Owns Whom." The online directory provides information on the corporate hierarchies (affiliates, subsidiaries, and divisions) of U.S. and international public and private companies. (2/19/2008)

Web of Science gets a facelift
Web of Science, the Lafayette Libraries' main index to journal articles in the sciences and social sciences, has launched a new, simplified user interface. Some new features include a left-hand navigation bar where you can quickly refine your results. For example, you can see which authors pop up most in your search results or limit your results by subject area or publication name. When you open an individual record, you can also now immediately see a list of articles that cite the one you've found. (2/12/2008)
Oxford Reference Online updates content
The latest update to Oxford Reference Online includes two new titles — The Oxford Companion to Australian Politics and The Oxford Dictionary of American Quotations — and three new timelines — Settlements of North America, The American Revolution and The American Civil War. These provide a chronological account of events in North America from 1200 BCE to 1877, with each moment linked to an entry in the online reference collection. (2/4/2008)

International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences online
A revised (c. 2008) version of the classic first edition of the International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences is now available online. The encyclopedia features new articles and biographies contributed by scholars from around the world on a wide array of global topics in the social sciences.
