EASTON, Pa.(www.lafayette.edu), May 16, 2008 — Lafayette has launched a new sustainability website called “What Can I Do” to promote a more ecologically friendly campus. The site allows members of the Lafayette community to sign the “What Can I Do” pledge to reduce their personal environmental impact, learn how to get involved, and read about current sustainability events, projects, and course offerings.

“Lafayette is fully committed to creating a sustainable campus environment, and we are dedicating substantial resources to this crucial objective,” says President Daniel H. Weiss.
The College has begun taking a number of steps toward becoming a more green campus. A new environmental studies program and major is currently in development. In January, Weiss became one of more than 500 college and university presidents to sign the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment, a pledge to eliminate green house gas emissions on campus. Also, George Xiques has taken on the position of manager of sustainability and environmental planning within the new Department of Facilities Planning.
