The chapter has reserved a block of tickets to see the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibit 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the de Young Museum, 50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive. More than 3,000 years after his reign, and 30 years after the original exhibition opened in San Francisco, ancient Egypt's celebrated boy king returns to the de Young Museum. The exhibit features over 130 outstanding works from the tomb of King Tut, as well as those of his royal predecessors, family, and court officials. Cost is $24 per person. Alumni watched the Oakland Athletics take on the Tampa Bay Rays in Major League Baseball action April 25 at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. The game featured a pre-game meeting with Rays manager Joe Maddon ’76.

The chapter attended two spring training games featuring the Tampa Bay Rays. Kim Santangelo-Blomeley ’94 planned a pre-game tailgate for the game versus the Detroit Tigers March 26 at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, and Harding organized the outing to see the Rays take on the Philadelphia Phillies March 12 at Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte.

The chapter hosted an event Oct. 26 at Antonio’s Pasta Grille in Clearwater to welcome Roberto Noya, dean of enrollment services, to the Gulf Coast. Noya addressed the College's strategic plan, specifically the admissions initiatives for the Florida Gulf Coast, and the different ways the chapter can help the recruitment effort. Staats visited the chapter Oct. 22-24 and met with Harding, Rich Lambrecht ’65, and Dick Batts ’56 regarding the possibility of hosting alumni events in The Villages, where an increasing number of alumni now reside. Donohue arranged a dinner with several alumni in the Sarasota area and Harding organized one in the Tampa Bay area. Staats’ visit concluded with an alumni luncheon in Odessa hosted by Turrell.

Guests will have exclusive access to the Yankee Club, where a gourmet dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Guests can watch the game in air-conditioned comfort or step out to the outdoor balcony seats. This evening is a bobblehead giveaway night for the first 2,000 fans ages 6 and over. These bobbleheads feature former Thunder stars who that have gone on to big things in the Major Leagues so they will surely be popular collectibles. All general parking at Waterfront Park is $2. Lafayette families and members of the ice hockey team celebrated the last remnants of winter with the annual Family Skate March 7 at the Steel Ice Center in Bethlehem. Skaters of all ages and abilities mingled on the ice with members of the hockey team. After the family skate, the team took on alumni in a friendly game.
