On Move-in Day in August, parents of new students are invited to a Parent Orientation Program. While students are at their first Residence Hall Floor Meeting, parents attend a session presented by college personnel and upper-class students.

Family Lunch and Last Minute Details

11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Use this time to finish unpacking
and enjoy lunch together. Parents should
allow enough time to walk to their Orientation Program location *

Each student will receive three lunch tickets at check-in (one student, two guests). Additional tickets may be purchased at the lunch for $10 each, cash only.
Location: Behind Pardee Hall (Rain: Kamine Gym, in Kirby Sports Center)

*Students will not be with their families 1:30-3 p.m. Make a plan on where to meet for the welcome and your time to be together to say good-bye.


Parent Orientation Program

Parents of new students will learn about the many services offered by the Parent Relations Office and will receive important information from the areas of academics, tutoring, and student life. Upper-level students will offer their “Do’s and Don’ts” for parents based on their experiences and offer advice on how parents can respond to several issues that may confront new students. This is the time parents can ask their remaining questions before the semester begins.

Welcome and Family Farewells

3:15 – 4 p.m.
Students will be seated with their families and classmates. There will be time for last-minute advice and good-byes.
Location: Fisher Stadium (Rain: Kirby Sports Center)

Reception for Families

4:15 – 5:30 p.m.
Relax, enjoy light refreshments, and meet President Byerly before leaving campus.
Location: President’s House – 515 College Avenue (Rain: Pfenning Alumni Center)
