Old Grey Barn Better
than Ever
With the snip of a green ribbon, the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity house, a.k.a. the Old Grey Barn, was officially reopened during Reunion Weekend as alumni and current brothers celebrated a million-dollar restoration campaign.
“For all of us the dedication
is immensely gratifying,” said
Doug Fish ’01, fundraising co-chair. “We have succeeded in securing the future of the chapter house and with that the future
of the chapter by providing a
state-of-the-art living facility
for the current brothers. This revitalization is my way of making sure that future generations will have the opportunity to benefit from the Phi Psi experience.”
Improvements included
installing a fire sprinkler system
and upgrading the fire alarm system; stabilizing the central staircase; upgrading plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, as well as replacing windows and the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems; creating areas for academic activities; upgrading kitchen equipment; renovating bedrooms; and replacing the front porch.
“Thank you for devoting your time and effort to ensure that the members of Phi Psi have a strong academic as well as fraternal experience,” said Lafayette
President Daniel Weiss.
Lafayette’s Phi Kappa Psi chapter was founded in 1869.
