  Reunion 2007

Over 1,800 alumni and friends attended Reunion 2007, which featured class get-togethers, the annual parade, Reunion College, performances, meals, and much more. Go to the Alumni web site and enjoy the podcast, photos, and stories to get a taste of the good times and rekindled relationships.

The 2007 Reunion Weekend had only a sprinkling of what its predecessors had in abundance: rain. That made for dry and cheerful class cocktail parties and dinners on the Quad Saturday.

“It’s wonderful, just a beautiful day,” said Cole Vastine, who attended with his wife, Carla Douglass Vastine ’87. “Everything was taken care of – and a beverage on a hot day is a good thing.”

The couple was joined by scores of alumni who strolled around the grounds, chatting up old friends, making new ones, and generally enjoying a spectacular day.

Julie Martin ’87 and Patty DeAngelis Szipszky ’87 joked about the joys of sleeping in McKeen Hall during the weekend. Still, no one was complaining.

“The campus looks amazing,” Martin said. “I can’t believe the changes."

“We’re having a fabulous time,” Szipszky added.

While the attire ranged from shorts and sandals to blue jeans to semi-formal evening wear, the Quad itself was dressed to the nines. One huge tent accommodated most of the attendees, while another was set aside for the Class of ’77 and still another for the evening’s live entertainment.

“It’s been great just hanging out with old buddies,” said Kevin Doyle ’97 as he stood in line waiting to refresh his refreshment. “It’s really what I come back for.”

While Doyle just had to shoot down Route 22 from his home near Allentown, Ted Gailer ’60 made the drive up from Atlanta. He marched earlier Saturday in the annual parade, somehow convinced by Glenn Grube ’57 to carry the Class of 1957’s banner.

David Fisher ’82 was making his first return to campus since graduation, enjoying the reunions of both his class and Chi Phi fraternity.

“So far everything has been great,” he said. “It was a good turnout for our class. Three-quarters of our class was back.”
