Easton is in the midst of a major renaissance of sorts. The list on the facing
page illustrates the scope of the physical transformations now in high gear in our city
with public/private major projects underway totaling more than $150 million.
Developer Ashley Development Corp. has two major projects in the works—the $45 million, nine-story
high-rise luxury condominium Majestic (left) on South Third Street, and the $11 million transformation
of the vacant Pomeroy’s building on Northampton Street into a restaurant and condominiums.
In a public/private venture Arcadia Properties is developing a $20 million retail and condominium
Riverwalk project (below) on Larry Holmes Drive in a joint effort with the Easton Parking Authority,
which will use state and federal money for a $12.7 million parking facility and bus terminal.
But there is a lot more happening in our city than spectacular building projects. Major environmental,
public safety and security projects described in more detail on the following pages include the Bushkill Creek Corridor revitalization, the clean streets initiative, new ordinances preserving the city’s rich heritage, and
police hiring, training, and accreditation.
Lafayette is a major participant in the revitalization, aggressively exploring planning options and acquiring properties for redevelopment of the Third Street area at the base of College Avenue as part of the Bushkill
Creek Corridor revitalization project.
