The chapter has reorganized its executive committee and is now meeting regularly, sometimes by conference call, to plan events. Each executive committee member is contacting alumni to raise awareness of the chapter as it revitalizes and reorganizes its efforts. This spring, the chapter elected officers: Jim Benjamin ’84, president; Dana Murphy ’80, events coordinator; Dave Green ’85, secretary/treasurer; Irv Bravman ’51, chapter adviser;
and Howard Reed ’74, webmaster.
The first event was held this spring at Brio Tuscan Grill. About 70 people attended a summer BBQ and pool party hosted by chapter President Jim Benjamin ’84 and his wife, Jeanne, Aug. 5 to welcome the class of 2010. A
dinner with Lafayette president Dan Weiss and a Lafayette-Lehigh telecast party are scheduled for November.
Plans are underway to survey membership in greater Atlanta to enlist new volunteers and solicit ideas for events. Anyone interested in joining the executive planning

Frank Campbell ’74 organized the annual outing to a Boston Red Sox game. A group of 230 alumni, family, and friends attended a pregame reception and casual buffet Aug. 2 at Boston University African Presidential Archives and Research Center.

Michael Moskow ’59 hosted the chapter’s annual dinner at the Chicago Fed May 11. President Dan Weiss and his wife, Sandra, were guests. A picnic in Evanston Park welcomed new students from the Chicago area July 16. The chapter attended a Chicago Cubs game Sept. 1.

Delaware Valley
The annual outing to a Trenton Thunder baseball game was a sellout. North Jersey Shore alumni also participated. Thunder assistant ticket manager Brian Fox ’97 secured tickets for the group in the Yankees Club & Conference Center, where alumni feasted on a pregame buffet dinner. Richard Engel ’74 threw out the first pitch and the Lafayette group was welcomed on the scoreboard.

“The primary function of an alumni admissions representative is to promote the educational and personal opportunities offered at Lafayette through attending college fairs, high school visits, and conducting personal interviews,” says

office with supplementary information about prospective students. The responsibility lies with all of us to bring

Riley Temple ’71 hosted an evening reception April 6 at The University Club of Washington, featuring a talk by President Dan Weiss.
This spring, the chapter elected Meegan McVay ’95 as president, Christina Griffin ’99 and Kimberly-Ann Valliere ’01 as vice presidents, and Greg Rynne ’98 as treasurer. It continues to host Thirsty Thursdays on the first Thursday of every month. These pub nights now
have different themes and are hosted at various establishments around the District.

Longtime chapter leader and telecast party host
Gordon Laird ’50 organized the first meeting of the
new executive committee in March. Since then, the chapter has reorganized and Peter Zwart ’75 has stepped up to serve as chapter president. The chapter hosted a cocktail reception Aug. 31 at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. A Lafayette-Lehigh telecast party is scheduled.
Lehigh Valley

The chapter had record-breaking attendance at its dinner club events last spring with more than 100 participants at each themed dinner, which gave guests the opportunity to try new foods and dine with Lafayette students.
The annual spring tailgate at Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex attracted more than 70 guests, including student athletes. In April, an event at the Williams Center of the Arts featured a dessert reception and a guided tour by Diane Ahl, Rothkopf Professor of Art, of the gallery’s featured Rembrandt exhibit.
The chapter hosted its annual Scholarship Recognition Ceremony in conjunction with the admissions office’s reception for accepted students in April. Graduating seniors from the Lehigh Valley who excelled in academics, athletics, and the arts were honored. Also recognized were recipients of chapter-sponsored scholarships.
The annual Football Forum at Pfenning Alumni Center Aug. 2 featured head coach Frank Tavani, who previewed the season for about 60 guests. A welcoming reception for new students was held Aug. 16 at Pfenning.
Upcoming events include a football tailgate with Friends of Lafayette Basketball before the home game against Penn, dinner club events, and happy hours on the first Thursday of each month.
Long Island

Seth Marlatt ’98, Tripp Hemphill ’99, and Megan O’Neill ’96 have been working to re-establish the chapter. A welcoming luncheon for new students was held at Hotel Angelo Aug. 5 and a Lafayette-Lehigh telecast party will take place.

Ellis Finger, director of the
Williams Center of the Arts, and his wife, Phyllis, hosted a performance by Ballet Hispanico at The Lincoln Center April 22. On June 13, the chapter had a sold-out outing to a Yankees game and later that month, it attended an evening at The Frick Collection. Amy Herman ’88, the museum’s head of education, gave a private tour and hosted a cocktail party for about 30 alumni. Ed McNally ’65 and his wife, Glenna, hosted a reception for new students at his New York office Aug. 2. The chapter also made 26 tickets available for the U.S. Open.
The chapter is offering the opportunity to join co-ed touch football, dodgeball, and volleyball leagues coordinated by ZogSports, a league for young professionals that caters to alumni clubs in New York City and North Jersey. In January 2007, in conjunction with alumni affairs and career services, the chapter will host the second annual New York Networking Night. It also will conduct a community service project to coincide with Lafapalooza at Lafayette in late March/early April.
The executive committee seeks volunteers to represent classes from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s so alumni from each decade are helping plan events. Anyone interested should contact Ellis.

The chapter participated in an annual golf outing cosponsored by the Lehigh alumni chapter at Limekiln Golf Club in Ambler May 12. The young alumni of Philadelphia
and South Jersey held a joint happy hour at The Public House June 8. The chapter organized Family Day at the Philadelphia Zoo June 24. John Wynn ’50 hosted a networking breakfast July 18 sponsored by The Union League.
