EXCELLENT
MOVE-IN DAY
I am writing to thank all those who comprise the Lafayette family for an excellent first day.
Beginning with the greeting by school security for directions, and, in our case, the football team to assist our daughter, Ashley, by taking her personal items to her room, then the orientation session, convocation, and President’s reception made for an extraordinary and
memorable day.
Your first day for incoming students and their families was truly outstanding. This day was additionally confirming that Ashley made a great decision. We look forward to many visits in the years ahead.

LAFAYETTE
POSTAGE STAMP
Some U.S. citizens who
are admirers of all that the Marquis de Lafayette did for the United States thought that it would be wonderful to have a postage stamp issued commemorating the 250th anniversary of Lafayette’s
birth in 2007. We were told
by the U.S. Postal Service that
a stamp is issued only by requests from many people.
Please send a letter supporting a stamp for
Gen. Lafayette to Citizens’
Stamp Advisory Committee, Stamp Development,
U.S. Postal Service, Room 5013, 1735 North Lynn St.,
Arlington, VA 22209-6432

WONDERFUL
COLLEGE EXPERIENCE
Thank you for the many opportunities Lafayette gave to our sons Brian ’04 and Matthew ’06. The education that they received and the multitude of experiences they had is a real tribute to the superior learning institution that is Lafayette College. We marveled as they developed relationships with professors, worked as EXCEL scholars, traveled, and studied aboard. The generosity of your scholarship program opened many doors to education and personal experiences that contributed to their overall development. We appreciate
all that Lafayette has done for them. One of our disappointments was that my dad, Edward Miersch ’49,
died before either of them graduated. However, there was not a prouder grandfather knowing that he had two grandsons at his alma mater.
Brian continues to purse his Ph.D. at Northwestern University in materials engineering. He is being funded by the Department of Homeland Security and completed an internship at Sandia National Labs in California last summer. Matt was hired by Samsung in Austin, Texas,
and works in their microchip fabrication plant. He is currently in Korea for seven weeks of training.
Thank you to Lafayette and its generous donors for affording our sons a wonderful college experience.

KUDOS ON NEW DESIGN
The [summer] edition of the Alumni News is gorgeous!
It really made me feel proud to be an alum. Hats off to all
the hardworking staff that pulled it together.

I enjoyed receiving the Lafayette Alumni News
“Our Proximity Advantage” issue. The college has certainly progressed since my days on campus. I will continue to look forward to receiving future copies of your publications.
Thank you very much.

I just received the new issue of the Alumni News and I thought the new format was excellent. I found it to be very informative and an interesting read. I try to stay informed on the news of the College and this magazine brought me up to speed. It has been a few years since I have been back for an event but seeing the renovations at Fisher Field, I might have to take in a game this year. It is never too early to start thinking about schools for my 12-year-old twins.
