KRISTEN TULL ’06 was awarded a graduate fellowship from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to pursue an M.A. in environmental management at Duke. EPA’s STAR (Science to Achieve Results) program provides master’s-level students up to $37,000 per year of support.
“I owe Professor Sharon Jones my thanks. She has had the greatest influence in my life over the past three years as a mentor and role model and provided support and encouragement to challenge myself and set my standards high,” says Tull, an A.B. engineering/international affairs double major.
Jones says, “I am proud to have had the opportunity to work with Kristen. She has great initiative and motivation and was an invaluable research assistant.”
“Although there are countless environmental problems that need immediate attention, I believe one of the most pressing is global climate change,” Tull says. “Therefore, I hope to channel my energy toward solving the problem of global warming.”
