Scholar Athlete Attains National Recognition
Capping a brilliant collegiate career in
academics and athletics, neuroscience major and soccer standout Meghan Ramsey '04 advanced to the final
round of state competition as a Rhodes Scholarship
candidate from Minnesota. Applicants are chosen for
"high academic achievement, integrity of character, a
spirit of unselfishness, respect for others, potential for
leadership, and physical vigor." Ramsey recently became the Patriot League Women's Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year, an Academic All-America Team selection, and the Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Student Athlete of the Year. Named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll after each of her four seasons, she was the 2003 Eastern College Athletic Conference Robbins Scholar Athlete Award female recipient. She also received a Goldwater Scholarship, the premier undergraduate award in mathematics, science, and engineering. A team captain as a senior, Ramsey started all 73 matches of her career, establishing new Lafayette records for games started and played. She is a peer mentor and a member of the Lafayette Leadership Education Committee, Society for Neuroscience, and Residence Hall Council. She has served alumni externships with an oncologist and a professor of anesthesiology. |
