The Mission of the Division of Student Life

The Division of Student Life advances the mission of the College by helping to shape an environment in which all students are challenged and supported in their efforts to deepen their understanding of themselves, of others, and of the world. Members of the division believe that providing students with opportunities to become engaged in the Lafayette community will enhance their capacity to thrive in the classroom, to make well-reasoned and ethical decisions, and to demonstrate behaviors consistent with good citizenship. We engage in continuous assessment to provide students with innovative, meaningful, and effective learning experiences beyond the classroom.

The Division of Student Life fulfills its purpose by:

1) Designing programs, services, and policies that contribute to an equitable and inclusive environment in which all members of the community feel welcomed, respected, and supported.

2) Advancing student health, safety, and well-being through comprehensive and integrated programs.

3) Facilitating the development of students’ leadership and civic engagement through a wide variety of educationally purposeful activities.

4) Encouraging creativity and divergent thinking by providing students with opportunities to create, display and appreciate all forms of artistic expression.
