Residence Hall Dates To Remember
First-year student residence hall assignment information is mailed during the first week of July. To assist with planning for the academic year important residence halls dates are listed below as well as a list of things new students might wish to consider bringing to campus in August.

First-year move-in – Friday, August 26, 2005: All First-year students should arrive at their assigned residence hall between 7 am and 11 am. There will be no access to residence hall rooms prior to 7 am on August 26. The Orientation program begins promptly at 11 am. Parents may choose to participate in activities designed especially for them on Friday, but first-year students should plan to be actively engaged in the orientation sessions throughout the weekend.
Fall Break – Saturday, October 1 – Tuesday, October 4, 2005: The residence halls will NOT close, but students are required to notify the Residence Life Office if they will be staying in their residence hall room.
Thanksgiving Holiday – Wednesday, November 23 – Sunday, November 27 2005: The residence halls will NOT close, but students are required to notify the Residence Life Office if they will be staying in their residence hall room.
End of Fall Semester – ALL students MUST vacate their rooms no later than 6 pm on Monday, December 19 or within 24 hours after their last final exam, whichever comes first. Students with exams scheduled for the Conflict Day (Tuesday, December 20) may remain in their rooms until 6 pm on that day. Students registered to take immediate occupancy of Interim Session housing may request permission to remain in their room until the transition to the interim housing session on Tuesday, December 20, 2005.
All residence halls except Watson Hall and South College are CLOSED as of Tuesday, December 20, 2005 until after Interim session. Residents of Watson Hall and South College must vacate their rooms by Tuesday, December 20, 2005 for use by Interim occupants. McKeen Hall residents must also move out by this date to be relocated for spring semester in the Sullivan Road Residences.
Interim Session Opening – Sunday, January 1, 2006: Students registered for interim session housing must relocate to Watson Hall or South College Hall. These are the only two buildings that will be used for Interim Housing.
Spring Semester Opening – Saturday, January 21 – Sunday, 22, 2006: Students may move back into their residence halls for the start of the spring semester.
Spring Break – Saturday, March 11 – Sunday, March 19, 2006: The residence halls will NOT close, but students are required to notify the Residence Life Office if they will be staying in their residence hall room.
End of Spring semester – ALL students EXCEPT GRADUATING SENIORS (or those scheduled for a make-up exam) must vacate their residence no later than noon on Sunday, May 14 or within 24 hours after their last final exam, whichever comes first. Graduating Seniors must vacate their residences no later than 12 noon on Sunday, May 21, 2006 (the day following commencement.) Students moving directly into summer housing may request permission to remain in their room until the transition to the summer housing session on Sunday, May 21, 2006.

Electrical Appliances: Mini-refrigerator(not larger than 3.8 cubic feet), desk lamp/study light, fan, tape recorder/tapes, telephone, alarm clock, extension cord (UL approved)Linens: sheets for 36"x 80" bed, blankets/comforter, bed pillow, backrest pillow, towels/washcloths
Grooming/personal needs: small bucket for carrying things to bathroom, personal hygiene supplies and/or medications, thermometer, first-aid kit
Laundry supplies: laundry basket, detergent/measuring cup, fabric softener, stain remover, iron, drying rack, clothes hangers, sewing kit (needles, thread), quarters for washers/dryers (1 dollar to wash/1 dollar to dry)
Decorations: rug, bulletin board/pushpins, curtains, wall posters, plants
Study aids: dictionary/thesaurus, pens/pencils/markers, pencil sharpener, loose-leaf paper, computer paper, correction fluid, stapler, rubber bands/paper clips, transparent/masking tape, ruler, hole punch, calendar, notebooks, folders, lap desk
Cleaning supplies: paper towels/napkins, dishwashing pan/liquid, broom/vacuum, wastepaper can
Miscellaneous items: backpack, raincoat/umbrella, scissors, flashlight, screwdriver, plastic storage boxes, can opener, mugs/cups/glasses, eating & cooking utensils, flip-flops (for shower), address book, stationery/stamps, small pitcher, batteries, camera
Entertainment: stereo/radio, cds/tapes, bicycle, books, board games, television, sports equipment
Bits of home: stuffed animals, pictures, high school yearbook
Please do not bring:
microwave ovens, hot pots, toaster ovens, or any appliances with an exposed heating element, air conditioners, halogen lamps of Fluffy the family dog (pets other than fish are prohibited in all residence halls and college owned apartments). Thank you!
