What clubs and organizations does Lafayette offer and where can I find club contact information?
Lafayette offers a wide range of organizations: Academic Honor Societies, Cultural and Social Organizations, Engineering Societies, Groups Related to Academic Programs, Intramural Sports, Community Outreach Programs, Performance, Arts & Communications Clubs, Religious Organizations, and Sports Clubs. What is the Activities Fair?
During the first week of classes each academic year, the Office of Student Life Programs sponsors the Activities Fair in the Farinon College Center. Representatives from campus clubs and organizations as well as some departmental programs are on hand to display information, answer your questions, and take your name and contact information. Each year Farinon is packed on both the first and second floors with activities tables so you will be able to get more connected at Lafayette. This past fall we had over 100 groups represented! This year’s event will be taking place on Wednesday, September 2nd.
Are there opportunities for Leadership Development?
Yes! There are many opportunities for you to hold leadership roles in student organizations. Additionally, the College sponsors the Lafayette Leadership Education program, which has multiple components annually. The Fall Leadership Training Program in late August prepares student leaders for the opening of the year and Orientation. The Lafayette Leadership Institute in early February each year is an award-winning one-day conference that educates student leaders through a keynote address, numerous educational sessions, a distinguished alumni panel, alumni roundtables, and a leadership resource area. The annual Hoff Awards program, held each May, honors select students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community members for outstanding service and leadership to Lafayette. I want to volunteer… how do I get started?
The Landis Community Outreach Center offers you the opportunity to partner with the community through various service activities. The Landis Center has nearly 30 volunteer programs in which you can actively take a role in working with the community. What are some of Lafayette’s Special Events and Traditions?
There are many events and traditions that will make your college experience unique… some events are specifically for your class! 1,000 Nights is a first year student semi-formal held approximately 1,000 school nights before your graduation. The event is mirrored your senior year when you will celebrate 100 Nights until graduation! Some other campus-wide traditions are the Presidential Ball, Family Weekend, the Lafayette vs Lehigh Football Game, All College Day and the annual Major Concert. |
