Educational Programs

The staff at the Counseling Center provide a variety of educational programs to students in residence halls, classes, fraternities and sororities, and academic clubs.

Our programs focus on three overlapping areas:

1) Promoting healthy behaviors
2) Developing meaningful relationships
3) Understanding one's self.

Programs have included:

  1. Understanding Your Personality Using the NEO Personality Inventory:
A great program for roommates, teams, fraternities and sororities, and student organizations designed to help students learn how to harness their personality to achieve goals and reduce conflict.
  2. The Science of Success:
Students will learn efficient strategies to increase motivation, learning, and concentration. The program is appropriate for students of all ability levels.
  3. Straight Shots:
This accessible and engaging presentation discusses the multiple factors influencing students' alcohol use including social (mis)perception, advertising, and positive expectations. Students will take a visual journey of how alcohol affects the brain at increasing levels of intoxication and learn skills to avoid consequences associated with high risk drinking.
  4. Positive Emotional Health:
Learn about ways to cope with stress and maintain positive mental health in a rigorous college environment.
The Counseling Center also partners with the Lafayette College Active Minds chapter on their programs to increase awareness about mental health issues faced by college students. http://www.activemindslafayette.com/
