Educational Programs
The staff at the Counseling Center provide a variety of educational programs to students in residence halls, classes, fraternities and sororities, and academic clubs.
Our programs focus on three overlapping areas:
1) Promoting healthy behaviors
2) Developing meaningful relationships
3) Understanding one's self.
Programs have included:
- Understanding Your Personality Using the NEO Personality Inventory:
A great program for roommates, teams, fraternities and sororities, and student organizations designed to help students learn how to harness their personality to achieve goals and reduce conflict.
- The Science of Success:
Students will learn efficient strategies to increase motivation, learning, and concentration. The program is appropriate for students of all ability levels.
- Straight Shots:
This accessible and engaging presentation discusses the multiple factors influencing students' alcohol use including social (mis)perception, advertising, and positive expectations. Students will take a visual journey of how alcohol affects the brain at increasing levels of intoxication and learn skills to avoid consequences associated with high risk drinking.
- Positive Emotional Health:
Learn about ways to cope with stress and maintain positive mental health in a rigorous college environment.
The Counseling Center also partners with the Lafayette College Active Minds chapter on their programs to increase awareness about mental health issues faced by college students.
