LeAnn Dourte

As a mechanical engineer, much of my life is centered around laboratories, math and science classes, and engineering societies. However, Lafayette has given me the opportunity to experience many things beyond this world. I have been free to study Spanish, sing and act in musicals, and take ballet classes. The chance to explore outside of my major has made my time at Lafayette both unique and rewarding.

I am an active member of Lafayette Arts Society, a student organization that promotes arts-related activities and events on campus. In fall, the Arts Society organizes an annual Block pARTy that is held on my street. After setting up in the morning, I was able to sit on my front porch and enjoy the food and music with my friends and professors. There was a raffle to enter, crafts to make, and even a clown creating balloons for the children (and many of the college students too). For that afternoon, I set aside my schoolwork and enjoyed being a part of the Lafayette and Easton communities. When I graduate this spring, I know that experiences such as this are what I will remember in the years to come.
