Instrumental BenefitYou go into research thinking the end result will be what research usually gives, namely, knowledge about the topic being researched. So to realize at the end of the project that you have also acquired an expanded range of musical genres to play on your favorite instrument is highly rewarding. Learning about bossa nova, samba, son montuno, and other Latin American genres has transferred to my guitar playing. I’m still reaping this unexpected instrumental benefit of my research. It makes the knowledge I gained of these genres all the more sweet.
