Members of the College community stood together against sexual violence recently during the Take Back the Night rally. Students, faculty, and staff gathered at various locations around campus and took part in a silent march ending at the Quad. The “silence was shattered” with various chants and remarks by Mary Armstrong, associate professor and chair of women’s and gender studies, and Emily Musil Church, assistant professor of history.
The rally was the final event in this year’s Madame de Lafayette series, which explores womanhood in the 21st century through lectures, discussions, performances, and film. The series is sponsored by Association of Lafayette Feminists , the Office of Gender and Sexuality Programs, the Women’s and Gender Studies Program, the Office of Intercultural Development, the Office of the Dean of Students, Greek life, and the Marquis literary magazine.
