Lafayette men’s basketball players Seth Hinrichs ’15 and Joey Ptasinski ’15 were named to the 2013-14 National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court. To make the list, students must be juniors or seniors and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the academic year.

Yolanda Griffith to be Inducted into Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame

Women’s basketball assistant coach Yolanda Griffith was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame June 14 in Nashville, Tenn. Griffith played professionally for 16 years and was a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist with USA Basketball.

$1.2 Million Rappolt Field Renovation Underway

A $1.2 million renovation is underway at Rappolt Field, the home of Lafayette field hockey. The improvements include the complete replacement of the playing surface, which was installed in 2000 when the facility opened, and the addition of a permanent irrigation system. Seventeen of Lafayette’s 23 Division I sports have received 2014 NCAA Division I Academic Performance Program Public Recognition Awards. These awards are given each year to teams scoring in the top 10 percent in each sport with their Academic Progress Rates. The APR is the NCAA’s measure of academic achievement for every Division I team.

Biology major Cory Spera ’15 (Lorton, Va.) was named the Patriot League Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. A right-handed pitcher, Spera carries a 3.89 cumulative grade-point average and was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll twice. He is Lafayette’s fourth Patriot League Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year honoree.
