This year’s Lafayette College United Way Campaign hopes to raise $60,000 (a 10.7 percent increase over last year) from 225 donors (a 7.7 percent increase), and we’re counting on support from the entire College community, both new and returning donors.

I have been giving for as long as I can remember, both at Lafayette and when I was working in business. It just seems like the right thing to do to help support those in need in my community. My donation is not to a specific nonprofit, because I rely on those who are most in tune with the specific needs of the community to channel funds to those most in need. I have been a volleyball coach for youth groups that received United Way funding, and that support allowed some youngsters to participate who might not otherwise have been able to.
